RTI Announces Support for Distributed Systems Using QNX Neutrino RTOS

Sunnyvale, CA, March 26, 2003 - Today, RTI® (Real-Time Innovations, Inc.) announced the release of NDDS® for the QNX® Neutrino® realtime operating system. NDDS's data-centric publish-subscribe communications model is ideal for QNX Neutrino-based realtime systems. With the NDDS middleware and WaveWorks tools, QNX developers can build their distributed, realtime systems quickly without the risk of designing and developing their own communications middleware.

"We're pleased to have RTI's NDDS middleware available for our customers," says Pierre Charron, segment marketing manager, QNX Software Systems. "A large number of embedded system developers choose QNX Neutrino for its distributed processing and realtime capabilities, and with NDDS, they can now take advantage of standards-based publish-subscribe middleware."

NDDS and Standards
NDDS is the data-centric publish-subscribe network middleware designed specifically for distributed, realtime applications. It uses the standard UDP/IP stack provided by the operating system vendor to distribute data. NDDS's data-centric publish-subscribe communications model eliminates network programming and is easy to learn and manage. Publish-subscribe is the basis for the new Data Distribution Service (DDS) for Real-Time Systems standard to be released shortly from the Object Management Group (OMG). The OMG also manages the CORBA standard. RTI is the primary author of the DDS specification at the OMG.

In addition to NDDS, RTI provides powerful distributed-system development tools. WaveSnoop™ is a network monitoring and packet analysis tool to debug NDDS distributed systems. WaveScope™ provides a realtime view into NDDS operation to optimize application performance. WaveSurf™ provides a global view of the networked objects so problems can be located and fixed during system operation. For more information on NDDS and the WaveWorks™ tools, go to www.rti.com.
