OTTAWA, January 14, 2003 - QNX Software Systems, Ltd., today announced the appointment of Dave Curley as vice president of marketing. Reporting to QNX President Dan Dodge, Mr. Curley will be responsible for overseeing future product initiatives, forging strategic relationships with current and future customers and partners, and developing targeted marketing programs. Mr. Curley joins QNX with extensive experience in senior sales and marketing positions for corporations covering the spectrum of hardware and software products for the telecom, defense, financial, security and healthcare markets.

"Dave Curley's distinguished track record of success with previous companies makes him an ideal person to join QNX's management team," said Mr. Dodge. "Dave's extensive marketing experience in a diverse spectrum of fields, ranging from telecom to defense, will be instrumental in extending our reach into new markets and digging deeper roots in our current ones."

Before QNX, Mr. Curley served as chief operating officer at Texar Corporation, a security infrastructure software company. His duties entailed managing the day-to-day operations of the company while also identifying business strategy, target markets and potential business partners, and forming strategic alliances.

Prior to Texar, Mr. Curley held the position of vice president of sales and marketing at Bridgewater Systems, a developer of access control software for wireless and wireline service providers. Previously, Mr. Curley has also held senior marketing positions at Mitel Networks and Newbridge Networks.

"Joining QNX Software Systems gives me a great opportunity to work with a technology leader in a market that is headed for record growth. Just as the desktop computer market exploded with chip advancements, connectivity and approachable pricing, the embedded market is set to reap the benefits of innovation on many fronts, and the opportunity is to make sure QNX is fully able to capitalize on these market dynamics," said Dave Curley, vice president of marketing at QNX Software. "Given that QNX has an unparalleled reputation for software reliability and a commitment to creating operating systems second to none, I have every confidence in our collective success."
