CANBERRA, Australia - September 15, 2003 - - Symmetry Innovations Pty Ltd today announced the availability of the National Instruments (NI) Measurement Hardware Driver Development Kit (DDK) for QNX Neutrino v6.x. Symmetry Innovations will promote the solution globally with full product support.
"The availability of NI's measurement hardware DDK continues to enhance QNX Neutrino's long-standing reputation as the platform of choice for control applications requiring deterministic reliability," said Kimm Krueger, director, Indirect Channels, QNX Software Systems. "Symmetry's implementation provides support for the extensive range of NI data acquisition hardware, resulting in flexible options for control systems that rely on QNX OS technology."
Symmetry Innovations first developed the software for a major defence contractor in the Australian market. The software takes full advantage of the QNX microkernel architecture for a reliable and flexible solution for customers.
"National Instruments DAQ hardware opens a wide variety of options to deliver on customer requirements," said Robert Cameron, managing director at Symmetry Innovations. "Based on the Linux measurement hardware DDK, it has been tuned specifically for QNX and enhanced to support the DAQCard (PC card) versions of the NI hardware, in addition to the standard PCI card support."
NI's data acquisition systems feature low-end to high-end hardware, supporting up to 1.25 million samples per second - on analog and digital I/O. The measurement hardware DDK provides full source code and example programs.
"QNX has a strongly developed history in control systems," said Jeremy Carter, managing director of National Instruments Oceania. "We are pleased that Symmetry Innovations' solution allows developers using the QNX Neutrino OS to choose our DAQ hardware for their control applications."
"Our next release will implement our IO-ADC framework, which will provide access to the hardware through a standard QNX resource manager - resulting in maximum flexibility and inherent scalability from single to multinode control systems," said Robert Cameron.
Pricing and Availability
The measurement hardware DDK for QNX Neutrino is available through Symmetry Innovations' Longreach Support Plan, priced at US$1995.00. Pricing for the IO-ADC resource manager will be at an additional cost when available. For ordering information contact Symmetry Innovations (www.symmetry.com.au/ni).
