|Who:|| Doug Schaefer, Eclipse CDT Project Lead, Senior Software Architect, QNX Software Systems
Jeff Schaffer, Senior Applications Engineer, QNX Software Systems
|What:||Informative Session on Using Eclipse to Debug Embedded Systems|
|When:||October 6, 2005, 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.|
|Where:||Arm Developers’ Conference ’05, Santa Clara, CA|
The Arm Developers’ Conference is an event that brings together the entire ARM Connected Community, including OEMs, silicon partners, tools vendors, and other third parties, as well as press/analysts and even university representatives.
Using real-world examples, this session, delivered by a key Eclipse CDT architect and a senior QNX applications engineer, discusses how to enhance the generic C/C++ debugging capabilities in Eclipse with specific remote target capabilities. This session will cover understanding Eclipse CDT extension points, extending the CDT debugger to support remote target debugging, creating custom launch configurations, targeting multiple processor architectures, and launching specialized, processor-specific debuggers.
Doug Schaefer is project leader for the Eclipse CDT development tools project, and is also a senior software architect with QNX. He brings more than 15 years of software development and architecture experience to QNX. Schaefer recently joined QNX from IBM, where he was the development lead and architect for that company’s contribution to the Eclipse CDT project. In addition to his CDT work, Schaefer managed the IBM Rational team responsible for code generation and debugger integrations for the Rose RealTime and XDE UML modeling products.
Jeff Schaffer is a senior applications engineer with QNX and has over 27 years of experience in the computer industry, with an emphasis on operating systems, embedded system design, and high-speed database technology. Schaffer holds Bachelor's of Science (Engineering) and Master's of Science (Computer Science) degrees from UCLA.
