LAUSANNE, Switzerland, March 23, 2008 -Force Dimension, a world leader in high-precision force-feedback interfaces, announced today that its SDK is now available for the QNX® Neutrino® realtime operating system and will support all of its haptic products. Force Dimension has developed the QNX version of its SDK primarily for its customers and partners from the medical field who require realtime performance and high reliability, as well as the ability to certify their products for diagnostic or interventional use.
The support for QNX Neutrino reinforces Force Dimension position as a leader in medical haptic user-interfaces provider, with products currently used by major developers of medical equipment (Philips, Siemens, Hansen Medical) and robotic research institutions (SRI, DLR, NASA).
The ability to use our haptic devices within the same realtime environment as their target application significantly reduces development time and complexity for our customers, while improving the performance and safety of their systems, said Patrice Rouiller, Force Dimension's CTO.
The QNX version of the Force Dimension SDK adds to the portfolio of existing platforms, compilers, and development environments supported by Force Dimension haptic products, including Microsoft operating systems (2000/XP/Vista), Linux, Apple MacOS X, as well as LabView and Matlab/Simulink.
QNX has long been at the forefront of HMI technology for embedded systems, so were pleased that Force Dimension is bringing support for its haptic SDK to the QNX Neutrino operating system. This technology is an ideal complement to the rich portfolio of graphical user interface solutions, including Adobe Flash and OpenGL ES, that we now offer to embedded developers, said Romain Saha, business development manager at QNX Software Systems.
