QNX Hosts Eclipse CDT Planning Conference

    OTTAWA, October 25, 2005 — QNX Software Systems, the leading provider of standards-based software platforms for embedded design and a founding member of the Eclipse consortium, today announced it will host the Eclipse CDT Conference, from October 25 to 27 at QNX headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario. The conference will give CDT contributors an opportunity to create a roadmap for the Eclipse CDT project, which is rapidly becoming the software industry’s premiere platform for C and C++ development. Members in the enterprise and embedded fields will map out the underlying framework of the CDT technology.

    As the leader of the CDT project, QNX is delivering several key presentations of real-world examples and solutions for Eclipse CDT 3.0. In addition, Doug Schaefer, project leader for the Eclipse CDT project and senior software architect with QNX, will facilitate a discussion entitled “The Future Direction of the Debugger.” Other sessions of note offered to developers include:

    • Debugger Architecture — Focuses on challenges and solutions within the CDT project; led by Mikhail Khodjaiants of QNX.
    • Parser and all things related — Provides an architecture overview and explores current directions; hosted by Doug Schaefer.
    • CDT and the Next Generation of the C/C++ Developer — Discusses future strategy and vision for the CDT project; led by Doug Schaefer.
    • Future Project Planning — Held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 27 by QNX.

    “The Eclipse CDT Conference is a strategic event that will further the role of CDT development,” said Schaefer. “The contributions and advancements made by the many knowledgeable members to the CDT project during this event will greatly impact the future of embedded and enterprise development for years to come.”

    Nineteen companies and organizations will participate in the CDT Conference, including Altera, Cisco, Eclipse Foundation, Ericsson, Freescale, Etnus, IBM, Innoopract, Intel, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Mentor Graphics, MontaVista, Nokia, Siemens, Symbian, Texas Instruments, Tensilica, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Wind River.
