QNX Senior Vice President of Engineering Wins CATAAlliance Private Sector Innovation and Leadership Award

OTTAWA, June 29, 2012 — QNX Software Systems Limited, a global leader in embedded software and a subsidiary of Research In Motion Limited (RIM), today announced that Sebastien Marineau-Mes, senior vice president, QNX® engineering and senior vice president, BlackBerry® OS has won the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATA) Private Sector Innovation and Leadership Award.

Marineau-Mes is responsible for all research and development activities relating to the BlackBerry OS, including including security, networking, media, graphics, web runtime, and development tools, as well as for QNX software products, such as the QNX CAR™ application platform.

Throughout his time at the company, Marineau-Mes has held numerous positions, including chief networking architect and director of the OS group. He was also the first project lead for the Eclipse C/C++ Development Tools (CDT) project and, in 2002, led the team that created the QNX® Momentics® Tool Suite, the first commercially available Eclipse-based IDE for embedded development. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Ottawa.

In association with the Telfer School of Management, Marineau-Mes was chosen by a selection committee consisting of members of CATA’s Board of Directors and industry experts. Voting by CATA members through an online voting poll was also taken into consideration.
