Gracenote Offers Complete Product Suite for Automakers

Solutions to be Used by Major Automakers for Evaluation, Prototyping and Planning for In-car Entertainment

EMERYVILLE, Calif., May 18, 2007 — Gracenote®, a global leader in technology and services that are an integral part of the digital media economy, today announced it has agreed to participate in QNX’s OEM Innovations Lab (OIL) program by offering members its entire device product suite to be used for in-car entertainment evaluation, prototyping and planning purposes. QNX Software Systems is the leading operating system (OS) provider for the in-car infotainment market.

Launched in May 2006, the QNX OIL program provides the advanced design groups of participating automakers with cutting-edge software to assist in their research and development efforts. The program has attracted the likes of such innovative carmakers as DaimlerChrysler, General Motors, Audi, Volkswagen, and BMW.

Through the partnership, Gracenote will provide QNX OIL members use of its entire suite of automotive products — including MusicID™, Playlist, Playlist Plus, MediaVOCS™ and others — each of which help automakers create an enhanced infotainment experience for consumers by enabling advances in digital media for instantly and easily accessing, managing and storing an entire library of music in the car. For example with Playlist Plus, users can simply plug in a portable MP3 player or music phone to a Playlist Plus-enabled car audio unit to automatically identify the tracks, add extended Gracenote metadata and then allow total playback control, including creating instant mixes from the car audio unit controls. This provides a better and safer user experience.

Additionally, Gracenote’s MediaVOCS product is the culmination of the company’s expertise in music information, and playlisting solutions with Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) technology, giving music fans hands-free access to their entire music collections in the car, at home or on the go. Gracenote provides its CD and file recognition database, MusicID, to some of the leading automotive companies around the world, including DaimlerChrysler, General Motors, Honda, Infiniti, Lexus, Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Toyota.
