QNX Platform to Support New Intel® Atom Processor Family

E3800 family designed to address performance/watt needs of wide range of embedded systems

OTTAWA, October 15, 2013 — QNX Software Systems Limited, a global leader in software platforms for connected embedded systems, today announced it will support Intel Corporation’s new Intel® Atom™ processor E3800 product family, formerly codenamed “Bay Trail.” Targeted at the embedded market, the new processor family is designed to address the growing performance-per-watt needs of a wide range of intelligent systems such as automotive infotainment systems, medical devices, building automation panels, and industrial control systems.

QNX Software Systems has supported Intel architecture for 30 years and is a long-standing member of the Intel Intelligent Systems Alliance, an ecosystem designed to provide customers with a trusted supply line of Intel-based products and services. The alliance has recognized QNX Software Systems for its Intel Atom processor support with an “Award of Excellence, Most Innovative Software for the Intel Atom Processor.”

The new Intel processor family delivers advanced compute, media, and graphical capabilities; reliability through virtualization and error correcting code (ECC); and a built-in security engine — all on a sub-10-watt system-on-chip (SoC) scalable for a wide range of commercial and industrial designs.
