OTTAWA, Canada, February 21, 2007 - QNX Software Systems, the industry leader in multi-core processing for embedded systems, today announced it has been named a finalist in EDN Magazines annual Innovation Awards competition. This exclusive award recognizes unique, state-of-the-art electronics products.
EDNs technical editors selected the QNX multi-core visualization tools as an Innovation Awards finalist in the software category. The QNX multi-core visualization tools go far beyond conventional tools by analyzing how the multi-core system behaves as a whole, giving developers deep insight into how to migrate, debug, and parallelize their legacy applications for optimum multi-core performance.
For instance, the multi-core enabled QNX system profiler can track threads as they migrate from one core to another, diagnose IPC flowing across cores, and identify resource contention between threads on different cores. As a result, developers can quickly pinpoint bottlenecks and identify the best strategy for optimizing system behavior. With conventional tools, developers have to gather information separately from each core and then somehow manually combine the information for analysis.
The QNX multi-core visualization tools simplify the complex job of multi-core debugging and optimization and help developers realize the performance boost promised by multi-core architectures, said Mark Roberts, director of product management, QNX Software Systems. By taking a holistic view of system behavior, the QNX multi-core visualization tools eliminate time-consuming dead ends, allowing developers to focus on activities that yield the most significant improvements to reliability and performance in their embedded systems.
Our 2006 roster of Innovation finalists includes great products across the analog, digital, software, and test spaces, states EDN Editor-In-Chief Maury Wright. I look forward to the rigorous voting process and know that the winners will be top notch.
