Industry leader broadens operating system support to increase flexibility and meet military avionics customer needs.
Santa Barbara, CA, June 28, 2004 - Condor Engineering, a leading provider of military and commercial avionics databus solutions, today announced that its military application programming interface (BusTools/1553-API) is now available with QNX® Neutrino® RTOS support.
The QNX Neutrino RTOS conforms to key open standards, including the Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) and Eclipse, an extensible IDE framework. In addition, the QNX Neutrino RTOS will provide Condor’s military embedded systems customers an option to use one of the most trusted RTOSs in the industry, with a proven track record for reliability, scalability, and realtime performance.
"QNX Neutrino is well-designed and thoroughly tested, and is an ideal RTOS for embedded avionics applications. When coupled with Condor’s 1553 modules, the customer experiences a proven combination that reduces development time and is extremely cost effective,” said Rick Schuh, vice president of Condor Engineering’s sales team. “Condor’s 1553 API is the industry’s most advanced avionics development suite and the QNX driver with source code is provided at no cost," adds Schuh. Existing customers can access API and driver updates by registering for Condor Gold service at http://gold.condoreng.com.
"The QNX Neutrino RTOS allows every driver, application, protocol stack, and file system to run in the safety of memory-protected user space, making code far easier to debug and test. Moreover, it uses message passing as the fundamental means of IPC, allowing systems to achieve exceptional scalability, modularity, and ease of design," said Shelley Bryen, strategic alliances manager at QNX Software Systems.
The QNX Neutrino RTOS has been engineered from the ground up for POSIX standards, making it the premier choice of government and military organizations who demand POSIX-conformant implementations. QNX Neutrino conforms to POSIX 1003.1-2001 and offers an extensive POSIX feature set, including realtime extensions and threads.
