The QNX OS for Safety is certified by TÜV Rheinland to IEC 61508 SIL 3, ISO 26262 ASIL D, IEC 62304 Class C, and EN 50128 SIL 4 and EN50657 SIL 4. It includes toolchains qualified to ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 TCL3 and T3 requirements. And our C++ library add-on is certified to ISO 26262 ASIL B/D.

The QNX OS for Safety can be used as a Safety Element out of Context (SEooC) to realize safety goals up to IEC 61508 SIL 3, ISO 26262 ASIL D, IEC 62304 Class C, EN 50657 SIL 4, and EN 50128 SIL 4.

Certify Your Code, Not Your Toolchains

A safety-certified OS and qualified toolchains mean that you’ll have confidence in the software you build, and that you’ll have a quick and smooth certification process.

With the QNX OS for Safety you’ll be able to build your systems with C and C++ toolchains classified as TCL3 and T3 according to ISO 26262 and IEC 61508. You’ll need to certify only the parts of the system you build, not the OS you build it on or the toolchains you use to build it.

Familiar QNX Neutrino RTOS API

If you’re familiar with the QNX Neutrino RTOS and POSIX APIs, you won’t need ramp-up time to begin your development work. The QNX OS for Safety is fully API-compatible with the QNX Neutrino RTOS API.

Develop non-safety as well as safety-critical applications on the same foundation OS while continuing to use the QNX® Momentics® Tool Suite.

QNX Filesystem for Safety

QNX® Filesystem for Safety (QFS) is a POSIX-compliant read-only filesystem certified to ISO 26262 ASIL B. It verifies the integrity of the filesystem contents upon access at runtime, allowing users to detect if corruption has taken place and take the necessary actions to maintain the safety of the system. QFS is an independent filesystem driver that works in conjunction with other read-write filesystems in the system. It is built upon the QNX Trusted Disk security feature and is compatible with Pathtrust and other QNX OS for Safety security features. 

QNX Black Channel Communications Technology

QNX® Black Channel Communications Technology meets or exceeds the highest functional safety standards and is certified to ISO 26262 ASIL D. Following the Black Channel approach, defined in the IEC 61508 standard, this solution provides reliable data transmission and consumption, greatly reduces the scope of certification and eliminates the need to have a safety-certified communication stack.
