Neil Peterson Joins QNX as Vice President of Worldwide Sales

OTTAWA, April 9, 2002 - QNX Software Systems today announced the appointment of Neil Peterson as vice president of worldwide sales, reporting directly to QNX CEO Dan Dodge. In this capacity, Peterson will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of QNX's global sales strategies, distributor network, and additional sales channels. Peterson will rely on his extensive experience in creating sales strategies to continue QNX's growth and expansion.

"Bringing Neil on board to lead our worldwide sales efforts comes at a time when QNX Software Systems is poised to unleash its highly reliable operating system into new markets and new applications," said Dan Dodge. "Neil's track record of success in creating innovative sales strategies and his hands-on approach to managing and developing a sales team will be instrumental as the company continues to grow customers and increase revenues in the coming months and years."

Most recently, Peterson worked as senior vice president of sales and general manager of NetSilicon's Intelligent Devices Division, where he also helped launch and grow the company's highly successful core imaging business. Peterson played a key role in building the vision, business plan, operating structure, and market positioning of NetSilicon as it successfully went through start-up, expansion, acquisition, and IPO phases.

Internationally, Peterson has assessed markets, developed partnerships, created country-specific products, localized collateral/pricing, and built distribution networks together with direct sales efforts to attack non-US markets. Peterson has extensive experience in strategic planning, new market/product development, and channels/alliances in start-up, turnaround, and rapid-growth technology environments. From a business strategy perspective, Peterson has extensive entrepreneurial experience in a high-growth environment.

"QNX Software is known globally as a company that develops software second to no one. My goals include maintaining relationships with our existing customers who rely heavily on our operating system, and building new relationships with customers working on next-generation technologies," said Peterson. "I strongly believe that QNX's reliability and scalable architecture offer developers an unparalleled ability to build applications quickly and cost-effectively."
