QNX Expands Channel in Latin America with Distribution Partner Proytek S.A.

OTTAWA, CANADA, March 24, 2003 - QNX Software Systems today announced that Proytek S.A., a Venezuela-based system integration and engineering company, has joined the QNX® Solutions Network as a charter distributor. With 15 years of experience in selling and developing world-class industrial automation solutions for process and manufacturing industries, Proytek will now sell QNX embedded software and services to key segments of the Latin American market, including oil and gas, chemical, textile, and tire and rubber industries.

"Latin America is evolving rapidly as a hub for manufacturing, a sector well-suited for applications that demand shorter development cycles and extremely reliable performance," said Kimm Krueger, director, Indirect Channels, QNX Software Systems. "Proytek's participation in the QNX Solutions Network boosts our presence in the region, and provides embedded systems developers easier access to the QNX Neutrino® RTOS and QNX Momentics® development tools."

To attract and retain top-tier distribution partners, the QNX Solutions Network has established carefully defined market territories that safeguard distributor margins. As a charter member, Proytek can sell select QNX products and services and will have access to QNX account representatives who can help the firm develop its markets for QNX technology-based embedded solutions. Proytek also has access to sales and marketing tools, ongoing communication, training, and certification.

"At Proytek, we are always looking to find best-of-class solutions for our customers, so we are pleased to now offer them products and services from QNX Software Systems," said Carlos Llovera, president, Proytek S.A. "We have a long history of working with leading manufacturers, and look forward to developing industrial-strength solutions based on the QNX Neutrino RTOS for the Venezuelan and Latin American markets."
